Reader Reviews

Excellent

My 6 year old found this interesting, informative and readable. His elder sister (9) read through and learned the facts ready to impress teacher on Monday morning and even the two year old liked listening and looking at the pictures. We used it as a start for researching topic work and it has gone into school this week to share with the whole class.

This is one book from Usborne's 'Beginners' series, which is intended to support young readers who are beginning to read on their own. A clear bold font is used, sentence structure is uncomplicated and full colour illustration throughout. Topics covered include Chinese art, Chinese history, The Great Wall, the Terracotta Army, Buddhism, Chinese writing and food. The book is organised in chapters with structural guiders and, glossary, contents and index. A framework for the Usborne reading programme can be downloaded from the Usborne website

Write Away

The Usborne Beginners and Young Readers series are increasingly being recognized and celebrated as having both the production values, content, and visual and commercial appeal demanded by the home market, and also the clear structure supporting children's reading development that is desired by schools. In my opinion, the Usborne Beginners and Young Readers series are by far the most appealing and comprehensive reading development supports available, now offering a vast range of subjects.
