Another worthy charity receives Usborne Books
23rd October 2017
One of the most important influences for success in life is the availability of books in the hands of children from birth on. This autumn, we are making donations across the country to ensure all children have access to Usborne Books.

When I first joined Usborne in June 2017 my main goal was to get more books into the hands of little ones. This event made my goal even more possible! I had the opportunity to donate to three local charities! It was truly an amazing experience! When I found out I would be receiving two donation boxes I asked my community to make suggestions on where they should be donated. I received a huge list and it was too hard to choose! So, my daughter and I put all the suggestions into a bowl and we drew names.
The first donation was a First Reading Library to Marigold Preschool, in The Pas, Manitoba. They were very excited to be able to use the books for their before school program, afterschool program and their preschool program.
The second donation box went to Halcrow Lake Daycare in The Pas, Manitoba. Halcrow Lake Daycare lost all of their books due to a fire a couple of years ago. They have slowly been building up their library which was filled with old used books. When I handed the books over to the children, one replied with a smile “We actually get to keep these?”
The last donation box was delivered to Hilda Young Daycare of Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba. The directors at Hilda Young were very grateful, were amazed at the wonderful condition of the books and were excited to begin using them with the children! Their response was “These will be perfect for our little ones!”
I would like to thank everyone at Usborne for this wonderful opportunity and for helping spread a love of books around my community!
