Another worthy charity receives Usborne Books
1st June 2018
One of the most important influences for success in life is the availability of books in the hands of children from birth on. This spring, we are making donations across the country to ensure all children have access to Usborne Books.

Our charity is the Rowan House Society which is an emergency shelter that provides crisis intervention and long-term support for families dealing with domestic violence.
I (Heather) have been partnered with them for 5 years and does an annual open house to raise money and earn books for the families at the shelter. The Rowan House was so excited to be receiving these books "we have a bunch of new families with small children that will just love the books... they will want them ALL. I know they are loving the Usborne books we already have in the centre. It is going to be like Christmas!" They were also super excited to be able to add more books to their child development room and program. Their child development program and sensory room are like nothing you have ever seen it is amazing to see so many of our books in these spaces.
What really drew me to this charity when I first got in contact with them was how much support they give families even after they had left the shelter. Being a teacher, the children and literacy are very important to me. I was very excited to hear that when families leave the Rowan House each child gets a new toy and new book to take with them to their new home.
Thank you Usborne for helping us support such a wonderful cause.
We take great honour and have a full heart knowing that We can be just a small part of their new happy beginning.
Sincerely, Heather Bourgeois and Joan Walton
