Katie Daynes has written oodles of books for Usborne, from lifting the flaps on germs and poo, through things to spot in the sea and at school, to the life stories of Nelson Mandela and Marie Antoinette. She wrote My First Chess Book after being taught by her son, Joe Birks, who became the British Under 9 Chess Champion in 2017. She now lives in Yorkshire with her architect husband, two inquisitive children and a hamster called Toffee. When she’s not writing books, Katie likes walking on the blustery moors, meeting friends for coffee and playing competitive board games.
Children will be able to progress through Usborne's Reading Programme books as they develop in confidence. This book belongs to First Reading Level 1. Like the others, carefully chosen text is supported with beautiful full-colour illustrations in a small, hardback format. A real treat.
It is a charming retelling of Aesop's classic fable, and not only does it have easy-to-read text for beginner readers, it also has fun puzzles to try after the story. Suitable for ages three to seven (Usborne First Reading Stories) A warming story combined with simple text and colourful illustrations to inspire any beginner reader.
