Building a bigger business

Building a bigger business

The best way to increase your earnings as an Usborne Consultant is to encourage other people to join your team. At first the prospect of building a team may seem daunting, but it’s actually just a case of thinking about the people that you know who may be looking to earn extra money, work family-friendly hours and build a business of their own.

Sponsoring others

Speak to friends and family and tell them about your Usborne business and how much you enjoy it and what's in it for them. They may like to host a home show, or even sign up straight away. At each of your events, take some time to talk to guests about your work and see if any of them are interested in becoming an Independent Usborne Consultant.

Don’t give up if you get one or two people saying 'no', the timing might not be right for some people - but ask them if they know anyone for whom this would be a great opportunity.

As soon as you start recruiting (or sponsoring others), you’ll be earning additional bonuses on the sales of your fledgling team – your reward for helping others get started.

There is no need for the ‘hard-sell’. Your passion for your new venture will shine through. Just be approachable, friendly and chat to anyone you meet and remember to carry agreement forms, catalogues and leaflets wherever you go. Once people see how much fun you are having (and what you are earning), they will want to join your team.

FAQs about building a bigger business

Can I sponsor other Consultants from day one?

  • Yes, you can. There are no additional skills required, other than the willingness to help others and a desire to share your own journey with new friends.

What do I have to do to become a Team Leader or Supervisor?

  • Team Leaders / Supervisors are titles we give to Consultants who successfully bring new people into Usborne Books at Home. The criteria for becoming a Team Leader or Supervisor is explained in the Consultant Manual and your own Sponsor will be happy to talk you through the process. It is quite simple and is based on nothing more than sharing the books and your own passion with others and helping them build that passion also.

How could my earnings change?

  • There are various bonuses and additional commissions paid on your and your team's sales as you build a bigger business. These are your rewards for choosing to help others. There are also additional incentives and accolades to work towards - we love recognising your successes and sharing those with everyone in our community.

Will I have to dedicate more time to my Usborne business?

  • You decide how much time you want to invest in your Usborne business. There are no set rules or expectations but, of course, the more you put in, the more you will inevitably get back.
